Howard E. Houston AwardThe Howard E. Houston Citizenship Award is given to one or more Meriden citizens for extraordinary service to his/her community. The recipient can not be a Rotarian. The award was developed to honor the memory of Howard E. Houston. Howard Houston was the president of the Meriden Rotary Club in 1943, a three term Mayor of Meriden, Commission of Welfare for the State of Connecticut, first administrator of the Bradley Home, along with various other local civic endeavors. He was in foreign service in India and South Korea for A.I.D. Program. His favorite description of himself was "civil servant". His daughter, Molly Savard, is active in the Meriden Rotary Club as a result of his continued participation in Rotary while overseas. The following are past winners of the Howard E. Houston Award:
